Graham’s has launched its first Porto Tawny 80 Years, a limited edition of just 600 bottles created by Charles Symington of Symington Family Estates, in honor of his father, Peter Symington.

It is the first time that Graham’s Port has launched an 80-year vintage and marks the company’s 200 years, and pays tribute to one of the most important families in the port wine sector.

“This is the first time that the brand has launched a Tawny this old, taking advantage of the creation of a new category ’80 Years’ from the Douro and Port Wines Institute (IVDP) announced earlier this year. With an extremely limited edition of only 600 bottles (RRP: €2,000), this wine has already become a collector’s item and a celebration of the passage of time”, says the company.

The blend was carefully crafted by Charles Symington, co-CEO and Master Blender of Symington Family Estates, in honor of his father, Peter Symington, a giant in the sector, part of the company’s history, and master taster of the family’s third generation, who is now celebrating his 80th birthday.

“My father was born in 1944 — in the midst of World War II — and his childhood was shaped by post-war recovery at a time of deep uncertainty. Several of the wines that make up this special batch date back to those difficult years, and the decades of aging have resulted in a truly magnificent old Porto,” says Charles.
