Portugal’s Praia D’EL Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort among the best in Europe

Portugal’s Praia D’EL Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort was voted among the best golf destinations in Europe, coming in 8th position at the 9th edition of ‘Europe’s Best Golf Resorts’.

The resort, located near Óbidos on the Silver Coast, moved up 24 positions compared to last year.

Leading Courses is one of the most prestigious golf course and resort assessment platforms in Europe, and it is with two specific ranking criteria that defines the Top 100. The goal is to make a balanced assessment between the quality of the routes and the overall experience of the visitors, so 50% are the reviews of the main fields on the platform and the other 50% are the Booking.com ratings.

In the analysis of the Portuguese resort, two 18-hole courses were highlighted, Praia D’El Rey Golf Course and West Cliffs Golf Course, which combine the tranquility of the location and the view of the sea. The Praia D’El Rey Golf Course was designed by the American architect Cabell B. Robinson and is located next to the Atlantic, so it is mainly known for its panoramic views.

The West Cliffs Golf Course, designed by Cynthia Dye, is located on the cliffs and natural dunes and consists of a more challenging course. Inaugurated in 2017, it quickly stood out and, that same year, was elected World’s Best New Course.
