The Sino-Portuguese insurer Fidelidade is the 5th largest insurance company on the Iberian peninsula when looking at the amount of premiums according to data compiled by ECOseguros.

The information is based on data from INESE Data published in the magazine Actualidade Economics and the Portuguese Association of Insurers. (Associação Portuguesa de Seguradores)

Of the Top 50, only seven groups are in Portugal: Ageas, GamaLife, Lusitania, CA, Real Vida, Caravela and Victoria. And 29 operate only in Spain, with Mutua Madrilena, the third largest which does not have a presence in the Portuguese market. Fourteen are established in both countries, including VidaCaixa, the Iberian leader that owns BPI Vida e Pensões.

Mapfre is the second largest Iberian group. It is present in both Spain and Portugal and the 9th largest in Portugal. Generali Spain, already part of Liberty, is twice the size in Spain compared to Portugal.

Fidelidade ranks 5th, although it has less presence in Spain. Allianz and Zurich come close in terms of premiums in both countries, while MetLife is larger in Portugal than in Spain in terms of the volume of premiums.
