Portugal’s construction sector suffers 2nd largest monthly fall in output in the EU
Portugal’s construction sector suffered the 2nd highest fall in production output in the EU in January this year.
However, construction output in the Euro Zone as a whole remained stable and in the EU actually increased 0.2% like-for-like on last year.
Except Portugal’s construction sector fell -4.1% according to data released on Wednesday by Eurostat. Compared to December, 2024, construction production rose by 0.2%.
According to Trading Economics, construction output in Portugal decreased 0.70% percent in January of 2025 over the same month in the previous year. Construction output in Portugal averaged -3.96 % from 2001 until 2025, reaching an all time high of 13.10 %in April of 2021 and a record low of -19.40 % in January of 2013.
