Hilton has opened a new hotel on the island of São Miguel in the Azores – The Double Tree by Hilton Lagoa Azores.

Officially opened on Thursday, 19 June, it is the first hotel unit in the Azores. It has 101 rooms and suites with panoramic views over the landscape and Atlantic Ocean.

The hotel also has a restaurant, bar, serving a variety of dishes using local products prepared by Chef João Fevereiro, a rooftop pool, leisure spaces, and the Inala Wellness Space with an indoor pool, a Turkish bath, sauna, and two treatment rooms.

The Double Tree by Hilton Lagoa Azores is just 10 minutes by car from Ponta Delgada, with easy access to the main tourism spots, including the local tea factory, Fábrica de Chá Gorreana, the Seven Cities Lake, and Fire Lake.

The new hotel is part of Hilton’s expansion plan in Portugal where it already has eight hotels. At the start of the year it opened the Arts Hotel in Porto following the restoration and refurbishment of an 18th century building and represents a strong link to the city’s artistic heritage since it is close to the University of Porto’s faculty of Fine Arts.
